Heat transfer, explained simply
Your design, professionally applied
Heat transfer printing uses a heat press to apply a prepared design to a garment. DTF and heat transfer vinyl are different ways to prepare that design; we help select an approach for your artwork and fabric.
You receive finished apparel ready to wear. Send your logo, photo or graphic, tell us the quantity and sizes, and let us review the print size and placement.
Quick local turnaround is available depending on garment availability, artwork and our schedule. Tell us your required date before ordering.

Choose the right printing method
Artwork, fabric, quantity and budget guide the choice.
| Method | A good fit for | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| DTF printing | Photos, colorful graphics and designs with three or more colors. | A printed transfer is heat-applied. Design coverage and fabric affect the feel. |
| Vinyl heat transfer | Simple lettering, names, numbers and compatible designs. | Color layers, artwork complexity and fabric affect suitability. |
| Screen printing | Simple one-color designs in bulk—our most economical method for this type of order. | One color: minimum 24 shirts. Two colors: minimum 36 shirts. Three or more colors use DTF. |

Heat-transfer printing questions
Can I order just one shirt?
Yes. There is no minimum for heat-transfer printing. One custom shirt or a small group order is welcome.
Can you print a photo or full-color graphic?
Yes, on suitable garments. Send a high-resolution photo or design so we can review print size, image quality and the appropriate method.
Is heat transfer the same as DTF?
Heat transfer describes how a design is applied. DTF is one type of heat-applied printing; heat transfer vinyl is another. We can help choose the method that suits your project.
How does the print feel?
Feel depends on the transfer material, fabric and artwork coverage. Large solid designs may feel heavier than smaller designs with open areas. We can discuss the expected finish for your artwork.
How long does it last?
Durability depends on the transfer material, application, fabric and care. Follow the instructions supplied with your order; we do not use one blanket lifespan claim for every method.
How soon can my order be ready?
Send your deadline and project details. We will confirm garment availability, artwork requirements and the current production schedule before you order.
Can I bring my own shirts?
Send photos and fabric details first. We check the garment and intended print area before confirming whether it is suitable.
How should I wash printed shirts?
Follow the garment care label and the instructions supplied with your order. Wash inside out in cold water and avoid ironing directly on the print.
Do you sell transfers by themselves?
No. SpectraColor supplies finished custom apparel. We apply the designs to the garments; we do not sell standalone transfers or DIY sheets.
